The Surprise Bar is located in the Leidsekruisstraat, a street behind the Leidseplein (square). The place is a typical bar that emits a welcoming ambiance where most people can feel comfortable. A famous (Dutch) comedian described the bar as “ a place where you can evade your daily routine”. So, if you feel like taking a break, then this is the place to be.
This cosy pub is par excellence one of the most suited locations in Amsterdam to either commence your evening, or end your night the right way.

The Surprise Bar is open on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 PM until 3 AM. On Friday and Saturday they close one hour later, which of course makes a lot of sense. That’s just a way of extending your weekend a bit. The Surprise Bar often organizes theme events as well as regulated after parties.
The Surprise Bar isn’t strict about their dress code, although you could take account of the suggested dress codes during theme parties (but not required). TIP: If you’re considering to start off your evening at the Surprise Bar, make sure you (and your group) are on time to avoid disappointment. This is a very popular location which many people attend quite early. It could happen that it’s too crowded and therefore access will be denied.
