Dress Code for MEN

When it comes to men’s dress code in Amsterdam, the rules are pretty easy to follow. However, the general image that most clubs and experiences in Amsterdam like to see their customers wear is clean, dressy/casual. We understand how important comfort is, just make sure you look fresh too! For the more elegant dress code, attention to detail is everything. However it all comes back down to a fresh style.

While there are a few different dress codes, they do nots differ too much from each other. We highly suggest to read about the provided dress codes and selecting your outfit accordingly. You can find tips and suggestions from the Nightlife Ticket Team inside of the descriptions. If you are unsure or have further questions please contact us via email or use our customer service chat.

What is smart casual?

Smart casual is neat but don’t overdress. Casual with a fancy detail. “Smart” means neat and “casual” means comfortable and informal. Smart casual is a combination of elegant, fashionable and neat with a touch of creativity in a playful way.

Smart casual for men

A nice blouse is the base of achieving a smart casual outfit for men. This could be matched with several types of trousers such as a pantalon for a fancy appearance or a chino to stick to the casual part. You could wear a colbert or a tie, but this depends on the weather or the type of party. For men it’s the same story as with women: denim, ripped or striking jeans are a no-go. Sneakers are too casual, so trendy but clean shoes are a better choice.

What is casual chique?

Casual chique is a similar variant on Smart casual. The challenge is to dress comfortable, yet to look good for your big nights out. ‘Add a (unique) chique detail to your outfit’ – this could be a combination of comfy, yet fancy clothing with a fancier accessory, a nice belt for example. On that note, you can match a sporty top with neat pants. Clothes with to many rips, frays or motifs are a no-go with “casual chique”. Tip: finish your outfit with a fancy watch or stylish belt.

Casual chique for men

With casual chique for men, a pantalon or clean jeans can be matched with a sporty shirt, a neat blouse or sweatshirt. It’s the perfect look for this dress code. Men tend to wear trainers, but clean (fancy)sneakers or neat shoes are a must. This outfit can be topped of with a stylish belt or nice watch. A good look requires care. So don’t forget to fix that beard before heading out.

What is party chique?

Party chique is a formal as well as an informal dress code. The style is quite similar to smart casual, but more festive. Think of an outfit you’d wear for a fabulous afterparty.

Men can match a chino or trendy jeans with a colbert, a nice blouse or shirt (possibly without a logo or print) along with a leather jacket would look good as well. Neat shoes are a must. This could be leather or suède dress shoes. Sneaker-lovers can always wear ‘stylish’ sneakers, as long as they’re clean and not too sporty. To finish the look, you can add a matching watch and or (subtle) necklace.

Dress Code for WOMEN

Although the dress codes for women are fairly simple, we encourage you to pay attention to detail and make sure you’re dressed appropriately wherever you may go. The image that most clubs and experiences want to see from their customers is generally casual with a chique twist. Certain clubs require a higher standard of dress which will impact your entry to that location. Make sure to feel good, look stylish, and party hard!

Security at each club works a little differently from one another. Some bouncers may not allow extra accessories such as a large purse or big jackets. However, they are more likely to allow such accessories in the colder months. The same rules apply to men. Be sure to read about the provided dress codes. If you are unsure of anything and have any further questions please contact us via email or our customer service chat.

Smart casual for women

Women can wear a smart casual style with a nice, trendy dress or a modern jumpsuit with a blazer or jacket, even a black trouser or jeans with a neat blouse or a tunic dress. A denim jeans or a ripped jeans are definitely a no-go. To finish your look, it’d be better to wear heels or fashionable flip-on shoes instead of sneakers. Sneakers can easily be too casual. Try to avoid prints or bright colors and highlight your outfit with jewelry instead.

Casual chique for women

A casual chique outfit for women is easier to match with many different garments compared to men. Women can combine a cute vest or blouse with a clean jeans or skirt for a casual chique outfit. It’s also possible to choose a dress with a sporty jacket instead.

What is party chique?

Party chique is a formal as well as an informal dress code. The style is quite similar to smart casual, but more festive. Think of an outfit you’d wear for a fabulous afterparty.

Women could easily match a blazer or cute vest with a fancy dress. A skirt or pants with a plain top, would also be perfect for this dress code. Pumps, ballerina’s, stilletto’s, moccasins or in other words dressy shoes with matching jewelry and a cute handbag – such as a clutch, can be the finishing touch for a simple outfit. So bring out those shiny necklaces and big earrings.

What is Cocktail Attire?

Cocktail Attire is the more elegant dress code of the two. Some clubs and experiences require their attendees to be dressed to the nines. This means that a beautiful dress, skirt, blouse and shoes should be nice enough to wear to a Cocktail Party or even a Wedding.

Beautiful jewelry is always a safe bet to finish off the look. Pair it with a lovely dress, skirt, or dress pants. This is an upscale dress code meaning it is a pulled together and elegant look. Throw on a pair of nice shoes! A pair of heels or booties will help pull the look together. Making sure your hair is clean or styled is also another smart thing to do.
